DAILY SCHEDULE

Round 1 for the K–12 Open section will begin at 8:30 am, all other sections at 9:00 am. All players must be present for roll call ten minutes prior to round 1 start time; players arriving late should not expect to be paired in round 1. Later rounds will begin as soon as possible after the previous round ends. Tournaments normally end by 1:30 pm for all sections except the K–12 Open section, which should end by 3:00 pm.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT FOOD AND DRINKS

We ask all participants (players and parents) to be conscientious about cleaning up after themselves so that we do not jeopardize the privilege of using our venues in the future. Our continued use of these venues depends on using them respectfully and leaving them as clean as we find them. Thank you for your understanding and assistance in this important matter.

Snacks might be available from vending machines in some venues, but we suggest that participants not depend on this as the vending machines, if there are any, might not be accessible or stocked. Cincinnati Scholastic Chess will normally have some snacks and sodas available for purchase at the registration desk. Participants are welcome to bring whatever lunch, snacks and drinks they might want for consumption during the tournament. Food is usually not available for purchase at the tournament site except as noted below in the venue-specific information, but we have sometimes been fortunate to share a date coincidentally with another event (such as a wrestling or swim meet) for which food was being sold in the school cafeteria. Obviously we chess organizers have no control over this or foreknowledge when it will happen. Off-premises food vendors located near the tournament venues are identified in the venue-specific information

To avoid the risk of spills that might disturb games in progress, we ask that players in the K-6 sections not eat or drink in the playing rooms. They may, of course, leave the playing room at any time to get something to eat or drink; however, they may not stop their clocks in order to leave the playing room for this purpose. (In other words, their clocks will continue to run as normal while they are out of the playing room.)
